How can we stop our cat from clawing up the furniture?

My wife and I have adopted four cats into our house over the last ten years. Our most recent cat is very feral and she wants to dig her claws (as well as her fangs) into everything and everybody that she comes into contact with. You can tell that she has been lurking about, because you will find wood splinters and carpet fibers scattered throughout the house. We have squirted her and threatened her with a water bottle. We have caught her in the act and firmly said no to her. A number of years ago, we had to declaw another one of our cats, because she was digging her claws into the furniture and one of our cats that is declawed. This most recent cat is as sweet as can be, however she does have issues. How can we stop our cat from clawing up the furniture?
