Does the existence of a universe older than man disprove quantum mechanics?

If reality takes its shape after a measurement is made, how could a stable universe exist before an intelligence capable of measurements evolved? Does time travel solve this problem? If so, where did the original universe come from from which the possibility of time travel arose? Or the the Theory of Relativity allow no first universe; or first time?
